Subject
Davis, Angela Y. (Angela Yvonne), 1944---Capture & imprisonment.
Description
Angela Yvonne Davis is an activist, who has protested the penal institutions and racism. She is also a self-proclaimed Communist, which has drawn the most attention to her. This cartoon was drawn in The Record, when many conversations were had about her upcoming trial for murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy. At the time, she was being held in Marin County Jail without bail. The Black Student Union (BSU) at CSB/SJU held a rally on September 27, 1971, for Angela Davis and all political prisoners. Ms. Davis was acquitted in June 1972.
