Description
College of Saint Benedict 1948 yearbook photo of Joyce Williams, who later became the first Black sister at Saint Benedict's Monastery. Following her high school graduation in Mississippi in 1942, Williams volunteered at Friendship House in Chicago and became a Catholic in 1944. Through the influence of a friend, she came to the College of Saint Benedict where she graduated with a B.A. in biology in 1948.
