Written on the back by Sister Kuan: "Ruins of Yuanmingyuan (Imperial Gardens, Qing [Dynasty] built by the Jesuit artist [Giuseppe Castiglione, known in China as Lang Shining]) (1709) and destroyed by French force in 1860 and 1900. Accumulation of West-East architecture garden.
