Description
Yearbook photo of Eugene Dupuch, Saint John's University class of 1934. Originally from Nassau, Bahamas, Dupuch was recognized for his literary and musical talent. The yearbook notes "Time was when Gene rewarded eager listeners with vocal selections accompanied by a nimbly fingered ukulele. But with the years came a dignified staidness. He threw away his uke, and now when the sober pursuits of college life allow infrequent respites, he packs a piano under his arm, so to speak, and trundles off to become the life of some--any party. His phantom fingers have given a touch of artistry to the efforts of very-well, quite a number of orchestras in Minnesota. When he leaves this June, he is leaving a tangible reminder of his musical virtuosity behind him-the official Johnnie fight song, which he composed in a creative moment. "
