S. Magloire Kiloran

Sister Magloire (Mary Caroline) was born on November 25, 1904, in St. Cloud, MN to James and Caroline (Misho).  She was taught by Benedictines in elementary and high school, which started her interest in the Benedictine Community. She entered the community in 1925 before her senior year at the College of St. Benedict.  She received her B.A. degree at the College of St. Benedict in 1926 in botany, the second in college history. She began teaching in 1927, teaching high school and college, and also served as principal. She received her M.S. at the University of Notre Dame in biology in 1940. Her thesis title “A Taxonomic Study of the Indian Species Chenopodium."  Later she helped for nine years in the library at the College of Saint Benedict.  She was a thoughtful, helpful person who was remembered for the newsy letters she sent to those away from the community.
